City seeking applications for senior center boards and committees

The Johnson City Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for appointments to the Johnson City Senior Services Advisory Council and the Johnson City Senior Center Foundation Board.

“The Johnson City Senior Center engages adults age 50 and older in active life through active living,” said Deb Fogle, senior services manager. “The volunteers who serve on our advisory council and the foundation board are an integral part of helping us fulfill our mission in assisting the seniors in our community to achieve the highest quality of life through the programs, classes and fellowship offered by the Senior Center.”

The Johnson City Senior Services Advisory Council makes recommendations on matters affecting planning, support, and programming for the senior center. Three appointments will be made, each for a three-year term. City residency is required.

The Johnson City Senior Center Foundation Board is responsible for supporting and participating in special events, and assisting in fundraising efforts to benefit senior center operations, services, and/or capital improvements. Eight appointments will be made, each for a three-year term. Applicants must reside in Washington, Sullivan, Unicoi, or Carter county.

All appointments are scheduled to be made in January 2023.

Any citizen interested in serving may submit an application online at www.johnsoncitytn.org/boards. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, Nov. 30. Applications are kept on file for one year. Descriptions of each board and committee may be found online at www.johnsoncitytn.org/boards_and_committees.
