The City of Johnson City began conducting Citizen Surveys in 2012. The biennial surveys, administered in partnership with the National Research Center, changed to a three-year cycle after the 2018 survey. The 2021 Citizen Survey is now under way and includes direct mailings to a random selection of households as well as an online component. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Citizen participation is crucial. The collected data is used by City personnel to plan projects and provide services. Responses from previous surveys have resulted in improvements to the downtown area, including enhanced street sweeping and maintenance and the addition of LED lighting.
