The New Stars of Country concert, a benefit for local firefighters, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 at Freedom Hall has been rescheduled. The rescheduled date is set for Friday, March 19, 2021.

Tickets for the originally scheduled performance will be honored on March 19.

PAW Patrol Live! at Freedom Hall Rescheduled to June 2021

Johnson City, TN (July 2020) – VStar Entertainment Group announces today PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” performances originally scheduled for August 25 & 26, 2020 at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN has been rescheduled to June 7 & 8, 2021.   This announcement comes following postponement and/or cancellations of numerous VStar Entertainment shows across the country due to COVID-19.

Tickets for the newly scheduled performances on Monday, June 7 and Tuesday, June 8, 2021 will be automatically transferred and honored for the respective 2020 dates and times.  If fans are unable to attend, they should request their refund at point of purchase. Refunds will be given until August 7, 2020.  Additional inquires can be directed to 423-461-4884.

for KING & COUNTRY concert at Freedom Hall postponed

Due to the ongoing restrictions and concerns brought on by COVID-19, for KING & COUNTRY has decided to postpone its burn the ships | The 2020 Encore tour to a later date. As a result the concert scheduled for June 23, 2020 at Freedom Hall Civic Center will be rescheduled to a later date.

“Though we are deeply saddened to delay this evening with you, this decision comes with the health and safety of our band, touring crew, venue staff, and every single one of you as our top priority,” said the band in an email sent to ticket holders earlier this week.

Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new date, which has not yet been announced. No refunds will be provided until the band announces the new performance date.

Jericho Shrine Circus  featuring  Carden International Circus

For over 50 years, the Carden family has been bringing an astonishing and awe-inspiring show to people across the country.  From amazing feats of athleticism with aerial acrobats to the magnificent elephants, awesome tigers and so much more. There is something for all ages.

ETSU Women's Basketball welcomes the Tennessee Lady Vols

The Blue and Gold open the season with one of the most anticipated home games in program history with ETSU welcoming the University of Tennessee Lady Vols. The Volunteers boast the winningest program in college basketball having more than 200 victories than second place Louisiana Tech.   The Nov. 5 opener will mark 50 seasons since Dr. Janice Shelton led the Bucs to a 54-52 upset win over the Lady Vols.

Single-Game Tickets for the Women's Basketball game vs. Tennessee will go on sale to the public on Oct. 1, after season ticket holder seating has been assigned. Tickets will be priced as follows:

34th Annual Pepsi Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks

pepsi_fireworksPepsico Beverages North America of Johnson City and the City of Johnson City will sponsor the 34th Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on the grounds of Freedom Hall Civic Center on Thursday, July 4. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities. Since several thousand people attend the event each year, an early arrival is strongly encouraged.  

There will not be a rain date for this event. The time of fireworks could be delayed if there is inclement weather that evening. Visitors may be moved inside the Freedom Hall arena temporarily in the event of severe weather.

The following schedule may be useful in planning your evening:

-    Coolers and lawn chairs will be allowed on the FREE Johnson City Transit buses; charcoal grills or any other incendiary devices will not be allowed on the buses.

 -    Only designated service animals will be allowed on the buses - no household pets.


-     Lift-equipped buses will be available at ETSU and Winged Deer Park to bring physically challenged patrons to the event.                          

 -     Handicapped parking passes and instructions may be obtained by calling Freedom Hall no later than Tuesday, July 3  at 461-4884 weekdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

 -     Portable restroom facilities for the physically challenged will be located on-site.


-       Patrons driving personal vehicles to Freedom Hall are encouraged to remember to leave all valuables (cellular telephones, laptop computers, money, jewelry, purses, wallets, CDs, shopping bags, etc.) at home. 

-       Any valuables left in personal vehicles should not be left in plain sight and vehicles should remain locked at all times.


-     No thru vehicle traffic will be allowed at the Science Hill Vocational School; pedestrian traffic will be allowed access from the Vocational School Parking Lot I to the entertainment areas.

-     Sections of Morningside Drive will be designated for JCT bus traffic only.

-     No thru traffic will be allowed on Guaranda Drive, Longview Drive, North Gilmer Park, Lacy Street, Sells Street, Mullins Street, Belmeade Drive, and Baron Drive.  Only those showing drivers' licenses with home addresses will be allowed access. 

-     Residents of these streets inviting guests to fireworks parties should provide police officers blocking the roads with a copy of their invitation list - all others will not be allowed access.

-     Pedestrian traffic will be stopped on Guaranda Drive at 8:45 p.m. and resume at 10:45 p.m.

-     Pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be stopped on Liberty Bell Boulevard at 8:45 p.m. and resume at 10:45 p.m.

-       Following the fireworks, one-way traffic only will be allowed on Sundale Drive, Longview Drive and Guaranda Drive.

-       Use the Knob Creek - State of Franklin connection to get between Bristol Highway, I-26 and Freedom Hall.

-       When leaving the fireworks, use I-26 (rather than Kingsport and Bristol Highways), State of Franklin Road and Highway 381.


-     Ambulances will be located around the periphery of the Freedom Hall site.

-     Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel will be posted at the command post location near the Freedom Hall pool.

-     EMS personnel on bicycles and golf car mini-med will circulate throughout the crowd.

-     Johnson City Fire Bureau personnel will be able to travel into the crowd via specially equipped golf cars to deliver emergency medical and fire suppression services.


  • The best fireworks show in town will begin at 9:55 p.m.  Please do not endanger yourself or others in the crowd by bringing your own fireworks.
  • JOHNSON CITY CODE - Sec. 16-43 Fireworks -

                (a)  It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or offer for sale, or keep in stock, or give away, within the city, or one (1) mile thereof, any firecracker, cannon cracker, torpedo, Roman candle,                         sky rocket, pin wheel or any fireworks of any nature whatsoever, or any toy pistol or cannon, discharged by percussion caps or by percussion caps and gunpowder or other means.

               (b)  No person shall sell, possess or use fireworks of any description within the city; provided, that this section shall not apply to wholesale dealers and jobbers who may possess fireworks                        for sale to merchants and dealers outside the city and sell same to such outside dealers and merchants; provided, further, that this section shall not apply to fairs, shows and exhibitors who                  desire to give fireworks displays for the amusement of the public; provided, that such displays shall be given under the joint supervision of the exhibitor and city police department so as to                    protect the health and welfare of the public, but no such fireworks display shall be given without a permit from the city recorder. (Code 1964, § 21-32)

Zach Williams Concert Rescheduled

New Date:  Saturday, October 24, 2020 @ 7:30 p.m.  -  Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Due to the recent safety concerns caused by coronavirus (COVID-19), Zach Williams is rescheduling many of their upcoming shows. This decision was not made lightly and they are following the recommendations and mandates of city and state officials, as well as the CDC. Though this was not an easy decision to make, they are doing their best to follow the guidelines that have been presented in an effort to keep everyone safe.

ZACH WILLIAMS WILL BE BACK! Your current tickets are valid for the rescheduled event. Tickets for the originally scheduled March 28, 2020 show will be honored at the October 24, 2020 concert.

If you cannot make it to the rescheduled event, you can receive a refund at the location where you purchased your tickets.

Patrons who purchased tickets through Freedom Hall and who cannot attend the newly rescheduled date and wish to receive a refund should contact the Freedom Hall Box office at 423-461-4884. Refunds will only be available through March 27, 2020 and will be given as follows: Tickets purchased by credit/debit card will have a credit issued to that same card and a receipt will be mailed following processing. If for some reason, the card that was used to purchase tickets is no longer active, a check will be sent from the City of Johnson City to the original cardholder. Tickets purchased by cash will receive a check from the City of Johnson City along with a receipt.

Patrons who purchased tickets when the concert was scheduled at Grace Fellowship and who cannot attend the newly rescheduled date and wish to receive a refund can contact or call 1-855-484-1991. Refunds will only be available through March 27, 2020.
