Every day, the 153 sworn men and women of the Police Department provide law enforcement service to the citizens and visitors of Johnson City. Additionally, 16 civilian employees serve the public in records, administrative, and support functions. The workforce is dedicated, well-trained, motivated , and committed to partnering with the community to keep our city a safe and secure place to enjoy life.

In the pursuit of excellence, the Johnson City Police Department has maintained its accredited status since 1993 through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, meeting exacting standards established by this professional organization. Additionally, the JCPD received accredited status through the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program in 2011 and looks forward to continuing to provide quality service to the community through progressive programs, innovative technologies, and solid and dependable policing.

The Johnson City Police Department has several ways for community members to report suspicious activity anonymously.

Call Crime Stoppers at 423-434-6158.

Text the department by texting the code "423JCPD" along with the tip to phone number 847411 (TIP411). 

Offer a tip through the JCPD Tips app. Android users can download the app through this Google Play link while iPhone users can download the app through iTunes here

Please note, these tip lines are for non-emergencies only. A police offer will not immediately respond to these tips. If you have information about a crime in progress or need a police officer to respond immediately, call 911.


Community Comments & Feedback
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) makes available a public access portal to allow for comment and feedback from the community regarding any candidate agency seeking initial accreditation or reaccreditation status. Access is provided as an opportunity for comments, commendations, and other information regarding an agency’s quality of service or other information relevant to the accreditation process.
