Carver Recreation to honor veterans with dinner, awards ceremony

The Carver Recreation Center Veteran’s Day Program will recognize all veterans for their military service on Thursday, Nov. 9. The event will be held at Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave.

Special guest speakers Ronnie Roberts, post-traumatic stress disorder counselor, and Alan Hamlett from the Veterans Memorial Foundation will give introductions and awards to 10 honorees.

Veterans who will be recognized during the ceremony include Robert Cox, Melvin Love, Susan Rhea, Marc Aples, James Bennett Jr., Ronnie Laws, Richard Shew, Marshall Pampkin, Arthur Warrner, and Matthew Machen. In addition to the awards, the program will include dinner set to begin at 5 p.m. and a special recognition for fallen veterans.

As part of the evening celebrations, veterans will have the opportunity to receive free haircuts provided by Crown Cutz Academy in the Carver Community Room from 4 to 5 p.m.
