Property taxes for are due by Dec. 31, 2023. Postmarks of Dec. 31, 2023 or earlier will be honored. Penalty and interest will begin to accrue on Jan. 1, 2024. There are several methods to pay property taxes.

Pay in person
Taxes may be paid at the Johnson City Municipal and Safety Building located at 601 E. Main St., weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Pay by mail
Payments be mailed to the City of Johnson City, P.O. Box 2227, Johnson City, TN  37605.

The City of Johnson City Finance Department offers convenient and secure online payment options for property tax payments. The tax balances on the online search system are maintained on the City's database. The balances may not reflect adjustments or payments that are in transit. Accounts past the due date are considered delinquent and may not be paid online. Also, delinquent taxes that have been filed in Chancery Court may not be paid online. In the event of delinquent taxes, taxpayers may call the tax office at 423-434-6299 to verify the correct balance of delinquent taxes and ensure the posting of tax payment. Payments made online may not be reflected in online searches for 1-2 business days.

The City of Johnson City assumes no responsibility for incorrect information entered by taxpayers. Taxpayers are responsible for ensuring that payments are made in sufficient time to meet required deadlines. Taxpayers are responsible for printing and retaining the confirmation of any payment. The time and date of payments as indicated on the confirmation will be the date of the payment. Payments must be confirmed prior to midnight of the scheduled due date to be considered paid on time. Failure of a taxpayer to understand any information provided herein will not constitute grounds for waiver of any penalties or interest due to late payments. The City of Johnson City reserves the right to refuse any and all payments.

There will be an additional processing fee of 2.75% associated with each transaction. Fees are subject to change without notice.
