Parks and Rec offers Halloween events for all ages

Johnson City Parks and Recreation is hosting a full lineup of fun for all ages this Halloween season. Among the many activities, revelers can enjoy a pet-themed dog party, the Super Spooky Saturday treat trail, and the Annual Halloween Festival held at Carver Recreation Center.

“This is a fun time of year with a full list of community events scheduled,” said Promotions and Events Coordinator Tayler Dixon. “There is an event for everyone in your family including your furry friends. Treats for everyone too.”

Upcoming event details are listed below.

Howl-O-Ween Dog Party Celebration

What: Bring your costumed furry friend to Howl-O-Ween. This event will include pet-themed vendors, a photo booth and more. Proof of dog vaccination records are required upon entry.

When: Friday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Where: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St.

Cost: Free for all ages.

Super Spooky Saturday

What: Games, crafts, inflatables, a pumpkin patch and a costume contest are all a part of the festivities during Super Spooky Saturday. Local businesses partnering with Parks and Recreation will have tables full of candy to hand out as attendees walk through the Treat Trail.

When: Saturday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Where: Freedom Hall Civic Center, 1320 Pactolas Road, on the practice fields adjacent to Freedom Hall pool.

Cost: Free for all ages. Concessions will be for sale.

Annual Halloween Festival

What: Participants can enter a costume contest for a chance to win prizes. Games including basketball shot, football toss, cake walk, and more will be available for attendees.

When: Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave.

Cost: Free for kids in costume; kids without a costume are $1; adults are $2; game tickets are $.50 each.
