Johnson City - 150 Year Celebration

Sesquicentennial Commission seeks suggestions on 150th celebration

The City of Johnson City’s Sesquicentennial Commission invites citizens to participate in an online survey about celebrating the City’s 150th anniversary next year. “We want this celebration to be meaningful, fun-filled, and inclusive for all of our neighbors.” said Commission Chairwoman Rebecca Henderson. To that end, the Commission drafted a short survey that offers residents an opportunity to propose suggestions on activities to celebrate the City’s sesquicentennial, and rank the three aspects of the proposed legacy project (cascading water feature, splash pad, and natural adventure area at King Commons in downtown Johnson City). The survey also seeks to gauge residents’ interest in themed celebrations being planned for 2019.

The online survey is available at and will remain open through Nov. 30. Those interested in staying informed about the City’s sesquicentennial celebration are encouraged to follow the Commission’s Facebook page at @JCTN150.
