The inaugural Shop With a Cop Superhero 5K and Family Fun Run is set for Nov. 10, and this event is not to be missed by big or little caped crusaders! Your mission: to save the day for children in need. All proceeds from the race will go toward the Johnson City Police Department’s Shop With a Cop program. Area children, selected from the Johnson City School System, are treated to dinner before a Police escort takes them to Walmart for a shopping spree. Each child’s family receives a food box, and if there are siblings in the home, they receive gifts as well.

“Spending time with these kids and being a small part of helping them to enjoy Christmas is the best feeling in the world,” said Officer Brittney Eberhardt. “They are so sweet. They can buy anything they want on the shopping spree, and most all of them end up buying presents for their family. We had the privilege of helping 61 children last year, and this year we hope to increase that to 70.”

Register today to take part in this super fun, superhero event. The whole family is invited to join in fighting villains along the route, in their pursuit of justice and Christmas cheer.

“It’s going to be unlike any other 5K in our area, and the kids will love it,” Brittney said. “And of course there’s the added bonus of knowing your registration fee is helping a local child.”
