Manhole rehabilitation work to impact downtown traffic this week

Traffic flow in the downtown area will be impacted Tuesday, March 9 and Wednesday, March 10 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. while manhole rehabilitation work takes place. Contractor equipment will be set up at three intersections and traffic control measures will be in place, resulting in lane shifts.

The areas impacted will be:

• Buffalo Street/Cherry Street intersection
• West State of Franklin Road between Buffalo Street and South Commerce Street

Drivers who cannot avoid the area should expect delays, use caution in the construction zone, and observe posted speed limits for their safety and the safety of workers.

This work is part of the City of Johnson City’s Downtown Water and Wastewater System Improvements Project.
