Volunteers needed for Regional Planning Commission

The Johnson City Board of Commissioners will consider four appointments to the Johnson City Regional Planning Commission. All appointments are scheduled to be made in July, each for a term of three years. Three of the appointments require City residency. Once appointment requires residency outside of the Johnson City corporate limit, but within the Urban Growth Boundary of the City of Johnson City.

The Regional Planning Commission reviews all rezonings, annexations, and right-of-way abandonments and makes recommendations for approval or denial to the Board of Commissioners. The Planning Commission also makes recommendations on land use policy issues through the subdivision regulations, zoning ordinance, and the comprehensive plan.

The Planning Commission meets in the Commission Chambers of the Municipal and Safety Building, 601 E. Main St., on the second Tuesday of each month.

Applications should be submitted online at www.johnsoncitytn.org/boards. The deadline for applications is May 29. For more information about the Johnson City Regional Planning Commission or questions about the Urban Growth Boundary, please contact Asongayi Venard at 423-434-6053 or avenard@johnsoncitytn.org.
