Johnson City launches National Business Survey, open through March 6

The City of Johnson City has launched the National Business Survey (NBS), which is intended to assist City leadership in understanding the local business climate. A link to the online survey will be mailed this month, and the survey closes on March 6.

“We want to ensure that Johnson City’s environment is one that fosters and supports business development,” said City Manager Cathy Ball. “Just as we do with the results of our National Citizen Survey, the data gathered will be used to inform budgeting, policy-making and strategic planning.”

Like the citizen survey, the NBS is a benchmark survey that measures results against other communities from across the country. While Johnson City has issued the citizen version every two to three years for more than a decade, this will be the community’s first business survey.

“The business survey will be conducted at regular intervals as well,” Ball said. “This helps us see trends and get a measure of improvement.”

The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and can be completed anonymously. Participants can choose to provide an email address to Polco, to be contacted with new questions and additional surveys.

Businesses inside Johnson City limits will receive postcards and letters during the month of February with the survey link. The survey should be completed by the business owner or an executive manager, and businesses with more than one location in the City should complete a survey for each location.
