City announces parking restrictions for Christmas Parade route

The City of Johnson City will have parking restrictions along the Christmas Parade route the morning of Saturday, Dec. 3.

Parade staging will be at East Tennessee State University’s lot 9 at the corner of University Parkway and State of Franklin. The parade will travel left onto University Parkway, turn right onto West State of Franklin, left onto Buffalo Street, right onto East Main Street, right onto Colonial Way, left onto East State of Franklin and end in the Old Burley Lot at the corner of East State of Franklin and Legion Street.

Parking restrictions along the parade route go into effect starting at 5 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. No parking on will be allowed on Buffalo Street, East Main Street and Colonial Way. Any vehicles parked in those areas after 5 a.m. will be towed.

Free public parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in City parking lots. A map of those lots can be found here. ETSU will also allow parking at the Thomas Baseball Stadium, 1007 University Parkway.

There will be rolling street closures throughout the parade route. Streets will be closed as the parade approaches and will reopen as the parade passes.
