JCFD to hold Firefighters and Friends Block Party at Founders Park Pavilion

The Johnson City Fire Department will host the Firefighters and Friends Block Party on Sunday, Oct. 23 from noon-5 p.m. at the Pavilion at Founders Park.

The family-friendly event is being held as part of Fire Safety Month. The block party is intended to help raise fire safety awareness and educate families, students and communities about fire prevention and whole home safety.

The National Fire Protection Association’s 2022 campaign for Fire Safety Month is “Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape.” JCFD, several volunteer fire departments, the Johnson City Fire Department, and the Johnson City Firefighters Association will be on hand to offer fun activities including a dexterity drill, window escape activity, and a bunker gear race. The Johnson City Police Department will present at K-9 demonstration, and the Johnson City Public Library will have a booth set up featuring books about emergency services.

A touch-a-truck portion of the event will allow children the opportunity to learn about the different types of emergency service vehicles by exploring them and interacting with the people who protect and serve our local community. In addition to fire trucks, other vehicles will include a police cruiser, ambulance, rescue ATV, and swift water boat.
