Johnson City Public Art to hold fourth annual 5 x 5 Art Exhibit and Fundraiser

The Johnson City Public Art Committee is pleased to announce its fourth annual 5 x 5 Art Exhibit and Fundraiser at the Pavilion at Founders Park, 105 W. Main St., in downtown Johnson City from 5:55-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

This year’s event will feature more than 200 artworks that have been generously donated by more than 80 area artists. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks will be offered this year, measuring either 5-by-5 inches or 5-by-5-by-5 inches, respectively. Each piece will be sold for $25. As an extension of the event, six commemorative fiberglass trains will be featured in a silent auction conducted adjacent to the exhibition space. The trains were painted by local artists for display during Johnson City’s sesquicentennial celebration in 2019, and each piece includes an original design. As they peruse the exhibit, attendees will enjoy a live musical performance by jazz quartet Adrian Nuñez, Hunter Sparks, Joshua Roberts, and Parker Lewis.

“This year, we’re literally adding an entirely new dimension to the annual 5 x 5 Art Exhibit and Fundraiser,” said event chair Michael Anthony Fowler. “With the addition of three-dimensional works in a variety of media, we’re aiming to showcase an even greater range of our community’s considerable artistic talents.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Johnson City Public Art. Light refreshments will be provided.

As in previous years, all artworks will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, attendees are encouraged to arrive promptly.
