Infrastructure work to impact West Walnut Street traffic flow

Infrastructure work taking place as part of the City of Johnson City’s West Walnut Street Redevelopment Project will impact traffic on West Walnut Street and neighboring streets next week.

The installation of sewer infrastructure along West Walnut Street from Earnest Street toward Buffalo Street may require this section of the road to be closed on Monday, March 14.

Crews will also be conducting work on West Walnut Street from Earnest Street to Sevier Street. West Walnut Street will be open to westbound traffic only from Buffalo Street to West Watauga Avenue.

Additional work along West Walnut Street near the Sevier Street intersection is also taking place. Once complete, crews will begin work on Southwest Avenue between West Walnut and West Maple streets, which may require this section of Southwest Avenue to be closed.

Additional information about the proposed redevelopment in this area as well as updates on construction can be found on the City’s website, www.johnsoncitytn.org/westwalnutplan
