Infrastructure work to impact West Watauga, Ashe Street for next several weeks

On Monday, Oct. 25 crews will begin replacing underground infrastructure on West Watauga Avenue between West State of Franklin Road and West Walnut Street. This will require a complete closure of that section of West Watauga for approximately three weeks.

On Tuesday, Oct. 26 crews will begin replacing underground infrastructure between 400 Ashe Street and Sevier Street. This work will last for at least two weeks. The westbound travel lane will be closed from Buffalo Street to Sevier Street although drivers will be able to access The Shamrock's drive thru lane.

Drivers who cannot avoid the area should expect delays, use caution in the construction zone, and observe posted speed limits for their safety and the safety of workers.

This work is part of the City of Johnson City’s West Walnut Street Redevelopment Project. Additional information about the proposed redevelopment in this area as well as updates on construction can be found on the City’s website, www.johnsoncitytn.org/westwalnutplan
