Legal assistance provided by the Legal Department to The City of Johnson City Government includes:

  • Offering guidance and counsel to city personnel and governing officials on applicable laws and policies
  • Providing advice and representation to city administrators and department directors, encompassing employee affairs
  • Verifying bonds, capital outlay notes, and various financial and debt instruments
  • Aiding in the retrieval of overdue taxes
  • Reviewing and approving City contracts, deeds, ordinances, resolutions, and other documents for proper form and validity
  • Representing the City and its employees in litigation, whether as a plaintiff or defendant
