COVID-19 Rent Relief to be administered by Tennessee Housing Development Agency

As part of the Covid-19 Rent Relief Act of 2020, Tennessee will be allocated roughly $458 million from the federal government for COVID-19 Rent Relief. Gov. Bill Lee has tasked Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) with administering these funds for the majority of the state, including Washington County. THDA is developing a web portal for applicants.

The application portal is expected to open on March 1, 2021. Applicants will be eligible to receive up to a total of 12 months of rent relief assistance which may be applied retroactively. All awarded rent relief will be paid directly to the applicant’s landlord.
