Solid Waste Services manages garbage and recycling collection services for residential and commercial customers in Johnson City and Washington County. Approximately 95 percent of customers within the city have automated solid waste collection services. The extensive recycling program includes curbside services, convenience sites, e-waste programs, and more. Solid Waste Services strives to provide safe and efficient collection of customers' solid waste items while maintaining a healthy environment for all those who live in, work in, and visit our community.
HOLIDAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE
Household waste is collected on all holidays except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

- Customers scheduled for collection on Thanksgiving Day will have collection the following Saturday.
- Customers scheduled for collection on a Christmas Day that falls on a Monday or Tuesday will have collection the Saturday before Christmas.
- Customers scheduled for collection on a Christmas Day that falls on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday will have collection the following Saturday.
