Inaugural ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday

The newly elected members of the Johnson City Board of Commissioners and Board of Education will take the oath of office on Monday (Dec. 3). Citizens are invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at 4 p.m. at the Municipal and Safety Building, 601 E. Main St.

Johnson City voters elected John Hunter, a Johnson City Board of Education member, and re-elected incumbent Jenny Brock to the City Commission. Brock and Hunter join Commissioners Joe Wise, Todd Fowler and Larry Calhoun.

Johnson City Board of Education incumbents Tom Hager and Kathy Hall will be joined by newcomers Michelle Treece, Robert Williams, and Paula Treece. Paula Treece is filling a midterm vacancy while the remaining four will serve four-year terms.

The Rev. Lester D. Lattany, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and the Johnson City Police Department Honor Guard will participate in the inauguration ceremony. Science Hill student Angela Shipley will perform the national anthem. A reception will follow.
