City seeks feedback on West Walnut Street plans

The City of Johnson City is requesting public input on proposed revitalization plans for the West Walnut Street Corridor.
Kimley-Horn, a consulting firm hired by the City last year to develop a master plan for the corridor, presented its initial recommendations this week. The plans are now available for review at http://www.johnsoncitytn.org/westwalnut.pdf.
“These preliminary renderings clearly illustrate great concepts that preserve our existing landmark buildings and businesses while addressing other areas and structures that need to be replaced or repurposed,” said Johnson City Senior Planner Matt Manley. “But these are just that – concepts. We want our citizens to help shape what that area will become.”
Any feedback should be submitted by May 30 to mmanley@johnsoncitytn.org or ben.miskelly@kimley-horn.com.
Kimley-Horn will present a draft written plan to the City by June 30, and the final plan is expected to go before the Planning Commission in August.
