Greetings from the City Manager:

Johnson City is a great place to live! It’s part of the region that in 1999 won the National Civic League’s first-ever regional All America City Award. Johnson City is a goal-oriented, high-energy, family-centered city with diverse economic components. Education, business, industry, civic and community organizations, and local government pull together to keep us moving forward.

I strongly believe in citizen-community-staff teams that work together to address concerns and formulate plans to meet needs. Neighborhood action committees, problem-solving task forces, public boards and committees, and outreach programs are creating a resilient, more cohesive community and strengthening government in its role of protecting and serving citizens.

The most critical element of any community is people. Citizens and employees who are committed to service determine a city’s destiny. I encourage all citizens to participate in their government – in their community’s future.
