| Motor Transport is responsible for maintaining all City vehicles, equipment and radios. The Department provides fuel for all City vehicles and equipment. The Department of Motor Transport is a service organization that provides responsive, comprehensive and quality services in the area of Fleet Management and Maintenance. The Motor Transport Division maintains and repairs City vehicles and equipment and select government-related agencies’ vehicles, such as EMS Ambulances. Department personnel strive to provide cost-effective, quality service as they maintain more than 1,000 vehicles or pieces of equipment.The Division procures and dispenses over 900,000 gallons of fuel and lubricants per year. Highlights during the year included receiving a 100 percent school bus safety rating from the State of Tennessee for the 17th consecutive year. Motor Transport earned the “Blue Seal of Excellence” from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Johnson City is the only public sector fleet maintenance operation in Tennessee to receive the Blue Seal recognition. Motor Transport is responsible for the City communication system and in this capacity maintains in excess of 1,000 radios. |
