Johnson City Fire Department Rope Rescue
The Johnson City Fire Department established a Rope Rescue Team in 2003 to respond to high angle emergencies. Some emergencies that require a Rope Rescue Team response may include a car over an embankment, a window washer trapped on the side of a tall building or a injured person stuck on a cliff face. Whatever the emergency, the JCFD Rope Rescue Team consisting of nearly 20 Rope Rescue technicians are ready to answer the call. Citizens may witness the Rope Rescue Team members participating in bimonthly training on buildings or structures throughout the city. Our most visible training is a rappelling demonstration from the Science Hill “Hill Toppers” water tower on Pactolas Road next to Freedom Hall. The JCFD Rescue trailer, with our Rope Rescue equipment, is housed at Fire Station #9. |

Through the leadership of Haz Mat team members and professionals from the public and private sectors, the WC/JC Haz Mat Response Team will serve citizens during emergencies involving transportation accidents, fixed facility releases and acts of terrorism involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive agents. The team will be available for regional response when called upon by neighboring jurisdictions. |
