BIKEWAY AND GREENWAY STEERING COMMITTEE.
Develops, sustains, and consider s the needs of
bikeways and greenways for non-motorized transportation in Johnson City.
BOARD OF BUILDING CODES.
Hears and decides appeals and variances to the Johnson City Building Code, also decides questions of code interpretation, oversees examinations of contractors to perform work in the community, and recommends code changes
BOARD OF DWELLING STANDARDS AND REVIEW.
Determines whether dwellings are fit for human habitation and requires specific remedial measures necessary for dwellings designated as unfit.
BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS.
Hears and decides appeals to provisions of the Zoning Code, considers applications for Special Exceptions, and decides questions of interpretation of the code.
CITY/COUNTY LIAISON.
Works toward cooperation and understanding of issues and projects with countywide implications.
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION.
Addresses Public Safety employees’ Civil Service grievances and certifies entry-level and promotional rosters.
CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU.
Markets Johnson City and Washington County, Tennessee.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD.
Promotes responsible industrial and commercial development.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE.
Manages Emergency Medical Service.
FREEDOM HALL ADVISORY BOARD.
Advises in matters concerning Freedom Hall.
GREATER TRI-CITIES FOREIGN-TRADE ZONE.
The Tri-Cities Airport Commission established this not-for-profit corporation under Tennessee law.
HISTORIC ZONING COMMISSION.
Considers conservation zoning to ensure the preservation of structures of historic value.
HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD.
Advises and makes recommendations concerning housing, community, and economic development issues.
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD OF JOHNSON CITY.
Created as a means of financing business/industrial facilities that would create employment and economic growth.
JOHNSON CITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY.
Promotes reinvestment, raises capital, generates revenue, and acts to promote the general health, safety, and welfare of the Johnson City community.
JOHNSON CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY.
Establishes policy and procedures governing the operation of the Housing Authority.
JOHNSON CITY POWER BOARD.
Serves as a liaison between the Power Board’s customers and management.
JOHNSON CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD.
Operates the public library.
JOHNSON CITY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION.
With the assistance of the Planning staff, administers the City’s subdivision code, advises the Board of Commissioners on matters of long-range development policy, zoning and annexation, and prepares the City’s General Plan for physical development.
JOHNSON CITY SENIORS’ CENTER ADVISORY COUNCIL.
Makes recommendations on matters of the Center.
JOHNSON CITY SENIORS’ CENTER FOUNDATION.
Generates philanthropic support for the Johnson City Seniors’ Center.
PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD.
Makes policy recommendations regarding recreation services and the use of facilities.
PUBLIC BUILDING AUTHORITY.
Carries out such functions as the Board of Commissioners may direct.
PUBLIC GOLF GREENS COMMITTEE.
Recommends policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in operation of golf courses.
TREE AND LANDSCAPING BOARD.
Recommends policies for the promotion and management of the urban forest.
TRI-CITIES AIRPORT COMMISSION.
Manages and controls the business of the Tri-Cities Regional Airport, TN-VA.
WASHINGTON COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION.
Reviews the tax assessment rolls and hears complaints and appeals.
WASHINGTON COUNTY/JOHNSON CITY ANIMAL CONTROL BOARD.
Supervises and governs the policies and activities of the Animal Control Center.
