City Spotlight

* ‘One-stop-shop’ in place for concerned citizens

The City of Johnson City is working to ensure that its citizens receive the best, most efficient service possible when dealing with their local government.

Lorena Bennett serves as the City’s full-time community customer service coordinator. Bennett is dedicated to responding to all citizen inquiries and concerns.

“Lorie is really the go-to person for any general questions regarding the City,” said Becky Hilbert, Community Relations director and Bennett’s supervisor. “How many times have you called a business just to be passed around from person to person, none of whom have the answer to your question? We don’t want our citizens to get the runaround, and Lorie ensures that doesn’t happen. When she fields calls, she either finds the information the caller is requesting or she has the appropriate staff person get back with them.”

Bennett’s job also entails answering citizens via e-mail and speaking with them in person should they stop by City Hall.

“We’re here to serve the people who live, work and visit Johnson City,” Bennett said. “It is my job to make their experience here as pleasant as possible.”

Citizens are encouraged to contact Bennett with their questions and concerns by calling (423)434-6022 or e-mailing lbennett@johnsoncitytn.org.
